Welcome to my website. I use this site to share some
of my interests with you.
Let me introduce myself... My name is Hans Hulswit
and I live in Papendrecht, which is a town of 32,000 in the Netherlands. We're on the River Merwede, just to the north
of Dordrecht, and about 15 miles south-east of Rotterdam.
I'm a teacher of English at the Willem de Zwijger
College, which is a comprehensive school in Papendrecht. With our students (but also privately) I visit England quite often
and you can find some of my favourite pictures on this site.
ARTS COUNCIL
I'm the chairman of the local Arts Council, which
advises the local council on policy matters and organises all kinds of activities. I've added a link to our website so
you can see for yourself. On one page of that site you can view the works of some of our amateur painters (and I'm not
one of them! I've got no talent for that at all, I'm afraid...). The site's in Dutch, of course, but I hope those who don't
speak Dutch will enjoy it anyway. We're adding more pictures all the time!
THEATRE
I love spending time at our local theatre, Theater De Willem. As a volunteer
there I'm one of the backstage crew who rig up light and sound for each performance. It's fun to do and
be part of the local theatre we're all proud of. Inge volunteers at De Willem as an usherette.
OTHER INTERESTS
Some of my other interests: literature (English and Dutch), the arts (especially
painting), space and astronomy, radio and the history of North Sea off-shore radio. And last, but not least: I really love
what I think is the most beautiful city in the Netherlands: the City of Utrecht.
